Multiple men arrested after Memphis police seize 19 guns, marijuana – FOX13 News Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police arrested multiple men on drug and weapons charges.

Police responded to a drug/narcotics violation at 2374 Hubbard Avenue and found 30 armed men with assault weapons at Hubbard and Harrison, according to an affidavit.

Police saw several people standing in the middle of the street, and three men began running and jumping fences behind houses on Hubbard and Golden Street.

All three were taken into custody, police said.

Another man who was seen jumping a fence was also taken into custody.

Police found a 9mm handgun under a truck, records show.

One of the suspects, Marico Simpson, was convicted of armed robbery in 2015, records show.

Paramedics were called because one of the suspects, identified as Carlos Ross, had cuts and was bleeding. Another suspect, Tarrence Simmons, was having trouble breathing, according to the affidavit.

Police found a bag with a leafy green substance inside covered in dried blood.

Suspect Darring Smith was also taken into custody.

Police recovered eight handguns, four assault rifles and one AK-47 at the scene, records show. One of the handguns was stolen.

Police also found a fully automatic Glock 22, another assault rifle and a pistol with a silencer, according to the affidavit.

A stolen Ruger 9mm was also found in a backyard where the suspects were seen running.

A backpack with nearly 390 grams of what appeared to be marijuana was also recovered, police said. All leafy green substances found at the scene tested positive for THC.

Simmons, 24, is charged with Manufacture/Del/Sell Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest.

Ross, 18, is charged with Manufacture/Del/Sell Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest.

Simpson, 27, is charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Handgun and Evading Arrest.

Smith, 21, is charged with Manufacture/Del/Sell Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest.
