BIG RAPIDS — Officers with the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety responded to the following calls.
Friday, Oct. 29
• A civil matter was reported in the 200 block of Monroe Street. The call was originally called in as a domestic, but was a civil matter between a man and a woman.
• Suspicious activity was reported in the 200 block of Hutchinson Street. A caller advised he received a credit card in the mail that he did not order. The card was associated with a phone number he had years ago.
• A private property damage accident was reported in the 700 block of Perry Avenue. A customer backed into an employee’s vehicle. They were able to identify the owner.
• An individual was issued a minor in possession of alcohol-second offense near Michigan Avenue and Chestnut Street.
• A man was arrested in the 200 block of West Pine Street for possession of a weapon while intoxicated and a carrying a concealed weapon violation. A man and woman were drinking and began to argue. During the argument, a container of pre-workout got knocked over. The woman grabbed a gun, never pointing it at the man. The woman began cleaning up the mess, and then the man grabbed the gun and left the apartment. He knocked on the neighbor’s door and showed them the gun. The man was lodged on both charges.
• A man was arrested near Perry Avenue and Venlo Drive for operating while intoxicated-high BAC. A man was traveling down Perry Avenue and his truck quit because of a lack of an oil change.The man’s vehicle ended up on top of the fire hydrant.
• An assault was reported in the 100 block of South Michigan Avenue. The victim was extremely intoxicated and began to tear up QR codes around the bar. He was escorted/pushed out. Due to his intoxication level, he could not give a good statement.
• While stopped at the stop sign near Oak Street and Michigan Avenue, a group approached the intersection. One person began to walk the opposite direction of the rest of the group. A consent search of her bag resulted in marijuana being seized. She was cited for minor in possession of alcohol and marijuana. The girl’s friend wanted to assist and was also cited for minor in possession of alcohol.
Saturday, Oct. 30
• A property damage crash was reported in the 400 block of Perry Avenue.
• A property damage crash was reported near State and South streets.
• A property damage crash was reported near State and Chestnut streets.
• Malicious destruction of property was reported in the 1100 block of Fuller Avenue. An egg and pumpkin was on the caller’s car.
• During a liquor inspection in the 800 block of Maple Street, a man and a woman were cited for minor in possession of alcohol. Fake IDs were confiscated.
• A complainant called and wanted to report an assault that occurred at Shooter’s stemming from a disorderly situation while officers were on scene. The caller was too intoxicated to make a statement and will come back Tuesday to give a statement. The incident remains under investigation.
• A car vs. deer crash was reported. The driver was cited and released for expired license. The vehicle was towed.
Sunday, Oct. 31
• A civil matter was reported in the 1300 block of Catherine Street. A man and woman were in an argument. He was upset about her having pepper spray.
• A hit and run was reported in the 400 block of Woodward Avenue. The caller’s vehicle was backed into by an unknown vehicle at some point the night prior while parked on the street. There was minor damage to the hood/grill.
