Idaho man found cultivating 1,000 cannabis plants in Red Bluff home – Red Bluff Daily News

RED BLUFF —  The Tehama County District Attorney Bureau of Investigation Tuesday served a search warrant Red Bluff for the illegal cultivation of marijuana.

Investigators with the district attorney’s office conducted an investigation and obtained probable cause to believe a large indoor marijuana grow was occurring in an upscale residential neighborhood northwest of Red Bluff on Molluc Drive.

During the service of the search warrant, there were roughly 1,000 marijuana plants and $6,900 in cash found and seized in the residence, which was converted to grow and process marijuana, resulting in multiple building code violations, making it an unsafe structure.

Leon Wen, 23, of Idaho was found and arrested inside the home for maintaining a residence for illegal drug use, illegal marijuana cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale.

Based on the investigation, it is believed that the residence was purchased in 2020 for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana for sale. It is estimated several hundred thousand dollars was invested for the cultivation.

The bureau of investigation has seen numerous similar cases in which homes are being converted to grow marijuana illegally. These homes are unsafe to live in and in most cases are electrical hazards where fire danger is increased to neighboring homes.
