HOLYOKE — City councilors are discussing what to do about odors from marijuana cultivation facilities following concerns expressed by a downtown property owner.

An initial proposal for a moratorium on new marijuana businesses likely cannot proceed, councilors were told by legal counsel Wednesday. But the Ordinance Committee did recommend city departments investigate if any cannabis facilities released odors into surrounding neighborhoods and whether the aromas impacted air quality or posed health problems.
