Search warrants executed at a Taylor house by the Michigan State Police resulted in the discovery of a marijuana extraction lab, as well as several other illegal items.
The search was conducted Jan. 13 on property in the area of Allen and Pennsylvania roads, in the city’s southeast corner.
Police said the search warrants were carried out as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Detectives served several narcotics-related search warrants in the same part of the city.
During the search, detectives discovered a clandestine marijuana extraction lab, which they dismantled. They also found several hundred pounds of hazardous chemicals that were removed from the garage of the residence.
A handgun, body armor, cocaine and other narcotics packaged for sale were also located.
Police report that several follow-up search warrants were conducted in St. Helen, an unincorporated community in Roscommon County, located in northern Michigan.
Those search warrants resulted in 11 more guns, narcotics, body armor and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The guns included three assault rifles and a pistol.
The investigation is ongoing.
