The innovative, booze-free rye whiskeys can be enjoyed with coffee, on the rocks or in your favorite mocktail.
Acclaimed Vermont distillery WhistlePig has unveiled two non-alcoholic rye whiskeys that could help Dry January drinkers spice up their booze-free beverage options.
The main difference between the two limited edition bottles is that one non-alcoholic rye is infused with “locally sourced, fair trade, Vermont hemp extract CBD,” and the other is not.
WhistlePig first unveiled its PiggyBack Devil’s Slide rye non-alcoholic whiskey, designed to be enjoyed with a cup of coffee or mixed into your favorite mocktail.
They followed up that limited bottling with the PiggyBack Half Send, a non-alcoholic rye whiskey infused with the aforementioned Vermont hemp extract CBD, meant to be a relaxing treat served on the rocks or in a mocktail.
Both are made with 100% rye, aged six years to capture the brand’s signature bold and complex flavor, then undistilled to remove alcohol, leaving just .05 percent alcohol, or 1-proof.
If the notion of a non-alcoholic whiskey sounds strange, keep in mind that WhistlePig is known for its imaginative releases, including a Roadstock Rye aged on the road while traveling 6,000-miles across America in a semi-truck and a whiskey-spiked ice cream collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s.
And so it’s not surprising that WhistlePig dropped pair of non-alcoholic whiskeys during Dry January, a health campaign that encourages drinkers to abstain for a month as a physical and mental refresh.
Piggyback Devil’s Slide sold out soon after it launched, but a limited restock is available online while supplies last. All proceeds will go to bartenders across America who have lost business because of January’s notorious slow season.Â

- 2 oz. PiggyBack Devil’s Slide Non-Whiskey
- 1/2 oz. organic maple syrup
- 5 oz. freshly brewed coffee
- Whipped cream and/or a donut on the side
Add all ingredients to your favorite coffee mug. (Optional: Top with whipped cream.) Stir, sip and enjoy.
- 2 oz. PiggyBack Devil’s Slide Non-Whiskey
- 1/4 oz. organic maple syrup
- 4 dashes of non-alcoholic bitters such as Dram Apothecary
- Candied ginger garnish (if you happen to have any)
Add all ingredients to an Old Fashioned glass. Add ice. Stir until maple syrup is properly diluted. Garnish, toast and enjoy.
