(WWJ) – Former heavyweight boxer, Mike Tyson, is poised to pack a punch with cannabis users as he announced the launch of his marijuana flower in Michigan dispensaries starting mid-February.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Tyson’s cannabis brand, Tyson 2.0, is partnering exclusively with Common Citizen to cultivate and sell the boxer’s new marijuana flower products, “Knockout OG” and “Pound for Pound Cake.”
Chad Bronstein, chairman of Tyson 2.0, said the products have done very well in other states, selling out quickly in California, Colorado, Nevada and Massachusetts.
Bronstein is excited about the product coming to Michigan, as the state is currently one of the fastest growing markets in the U.S.
“You see a lot of new stores coming up,” he said. “It’s very scalable and the market is innovative and growing. That’s why we chose to make sure we had a big footprint here.”
Common Citizen’s dispensaries will initially roll out the jars of flower and rerolled joints in Detroit, Flint, Hazel Park and Battle Creek by the middle of February. The company said there are plans to bring Tyson 2.0 products to over 200 other retail locations around Michigan in the future.
Designs to expand into vitamins, weed-infused drinks and psychedelic drugs — to induce altered thoughts and sensory perceptions — are currently being considered by Tyson and Bronstein.
The boxing legend is expected to make a stop in Michigan to promote his product launch sometime this month.
