The alleged possession of firearms, methamphetamine and marijuana led to the arrest of a Roseburg man on March 14th.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur of the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team said as part of an ongoing investigation, detectives initiated a traffic stop on 51-year old Joseph Barbero near the intersection of West Harvard Avenue and West Umpqua Street. Barbero was detained, pending application for a search warrant. Upon execution of a search warrant of the suspect’s vehicle, detectives allegedly found approximately 363 grams of suspected meth and two firearms, along with scales, drug packaging and other paraphernalia.
McArthur said detectives followed up later that night with a search warrant of Barbero’s residence at the Lookingglass Apartments in Roseburg. There they reportedly found 27 more firearms, 74 pounds of green bud marijuana, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia. McArthur said as a convicted felon, Barbero is not allowed to possess firearms.
Charges included unlawful possession and delivery of meth, 29 counts of being a felon in possession of firearms and for unlawful possession of marijuana. After arraignment, bail is set at $681,250.
McArthur said DINT was assisted in this case by the Roseburg Police Department, as well as drug detection dog Trapper.
