PINEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – A suspicious vehicle peaked the interest of the Pineville Police Department last week.
The vehicle was seen in the vicinity of the Lake Buhlow State Recreation area.
Officers made contact with the driver of the suspicious vehicle.
The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Nathan Jamal Lawson, of, Pineville.
The Pineville Police Department requested the assistance of the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit.
“From their investigation and with the assistance of the Pineville Police Department, Agents recovered approximately 6.2 pounds of suspected marijuana, two semiautomatic handguns and $5,449 in cash,” according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Further investigation determined that the Pineville native had recently travelled to Colorado before returning to Louisiana.
Lawson was arrested and taken to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
The 25-year-old is facing these charges:
- 2 counts Failure to Pay Fine
- Possession with intent to distribute > 2 ½ pounds marijuana
- Possession CDS II 2 grams
- Possession of a firearm with illegal drugs
Lawson bonded out of the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
More arrests are possible in this case as the investigation remains open.
