Goodness me! Take over this café for FREE in the CBD • Glam Adelaide

Have you always wanted to own a business in the city? Well, here is an opportunity for you. My Goodness Café, located in Station Arcade on Hindley Street, is up for sale and it’s free.

The small shop serves cold press juices, kombucha, acai berry muesli, pastries, fruit salads, yogurt, and other light lunch options.

The modest and wholesome CBD café is a popular hidden gem for city-goers, and well known for their generosity towards the needy – often leaving free food for the homeless at the end of the working day.

Current owners, Nuala and John Burns, have owned the CBD café since 2008. Due to COVID challenges, as well as Mr Burns’ deteriorating health, the couple have made the tough decision to give away the business.

On Monday, Mr Burns advertised the café in a private Facebook group called Market Place Adelaide, prompting more than 100 responses.

The new owners would only need to pay $600 a week for the rent and outgoings on a three-year lease – all fittings included.

“Sadly, very poor health and age have forced us to stop working and subsequently give our lovely shop away at no cost,” said Mr Burns in the post.

Nuala and John Burns hope to pass on the business that have a genuine interest in owning their own café, who may not have otherwise had the opportunity.

Nuala has been interviewing potential owners everyday this week, seeking someone with some general business knowledge and a plan for the café’s future.

The Station Arcade, which connects to the Adelaide Train Station, sees approximately 30,000 commuters pass through each day, and is home to an array of budget-price-Asian eateries and pop up stores.
