Local men are being urged to pop in to the Deniliquin CBD this long weekend for a free health check.
The Men’s Health Education Rural Van will be parked on the lawn outside the Deniliquin Multi Arts Centre in Cressy St tomorrow and Monday.
Supported by Rotary International, health professionals manning the van will offer non-invasive checks of your blood pressure, blood sugar levels and cholesterol.
Deniliquin Rotarian Tony Kew said it’s a simple way to get a check-up, which may just catch something serious before it becomes a real problem.
“You’ll see fully qualified professionals and there are no appointments necessary – just drop in.
“We’ve had a tough couple of years, and it is so easy to have a quick check-up.
“The blood pressure checks make sure the heart isn’t too stressed, the blood sugar levels is just a finger prick to make sure there’s no type two diabetes and the cholesterol check takes just a couple of minutes to see if levels are high and need attention.
“We all know prevention is better than a cure, and checks like this can aid in early diagnosis.
“The reality is that during the pandemic, doctors were not able to see people and pick up on these kinds of things.
“Rotary supports the health van because it sees it as a great community asset.”
Rotarians will help at the van, which is open for check-ups between 9.30am and 3.30pm tomorrow and 12.30am and 3.30pm Monday.
