  1. Former Denver, CO now STL resident wants to say that most people are missing the biggest reason not to legalize recreational marijuana which is the right not to use or be affected by (contact) it’s use. Just like cigarette smoke the smoke from marijuanna cigarettes are released into the air. It also clings to clothing and upholstery. The problems that Denver and especially the mountain ski areas of Summit county is that wherever you go you are in a perpetual cloud of marijuana smoke. I overheard endless conversations about the medicinal benefits which I admit there are mostly with THC removed CBD, but I could not drive my car, go to the grocery store or stay in my apartment without experiencing an endless barrage of marijuana in my air and an accompanying high. I know libertarians are all for people being able to do what they want as long as it affects them but non-vaped recreational marijuana use takes away my right to clean drug free air.
Immediately after the law was passed with very little clarification on how police were to enforce rules for public consumption parents in downtown Denver began to complain that they could not protect their children from the incessant marijuana smoke rising from the streets and dispensaries near their home. I myself unwilling experienced a “clambake” due to pot party my neighbors below threw everyday after work. FYI, multi-family units are not air-sealed from each other and some buildings share the same duct systems. Research the complaints Bieber’s neighbors made against him at the multi-million dollar Wiltshire condo-plex in L.A. Marijuana smoking is more likened to a public health issue like cigarette. The threat of lung cancer isn’t the same but we who chose not to smoke with those who do not want to smoke prefer to have clean drug free air as an option at all times. Yes, there are smoke free apartments if you can afford and management is willing to enforce but smoke travels. This is America, we allow alcohol, but I can control how much I am exposed to the affects of someone else’s alcohol consumption. Believe me there is no way to protect yourself against someone else’s marijuana smoke or “aroma”. Contact highs are real for pets as well. I met a stoned dachshund while working in Breckinridge, CO. Before anyone decides take a trip to Summit County, CO. I call it the land of the walking dead.
