Paramedics and an RACQ Lifeflight helicopter were called to Tabletop Mountain in Toowoomba around 4.45pm yesterday after the primary school-aged child fell down a rocky embankment.

RACQ Lifeflight crews flew the rescue helicopter to the mountain to rescue the child while Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and fire and rescue crews climbed the mountain on foot.

“At last light, the crew of the rescue chopper winched the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic down to the scene,” an RACQ Lifeflight spokesperson said.

The boy was treated for head and spinal injuries by paramedics and the aeromedical team.

Once he was stabilised, he was winched on a stretcher to the rescue helicopter and taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.
