Holders of marijuana licenses are also required to renew their licenses every year, according to the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission, which regulates recreational marijuana in the state.
Hemp is regulated by the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
Because hemp, which doesn’t get users high, was legalized by Congress in 2018, it’s treated more like an agricultural crop in Oregon.
Marijuana is legal in Oregon and many other states, but remains illegal at the federal level. Growing and selling marijuana in Oregon comes with more restrictions and regulations than growing and selling hemp.
