A total of 2 pounds of marijuana, 28 THC gummies, and 40 THC pen cartridges were found during a traffic stop for speeding, authorities said.
Two Michigan men are facing felony charges after a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred Tuesday evening when a deputy on patrol spotted a car speeding while traveling on West Highway 16 near Dyer Road.
While speaking with the occupants, the deputy reportedly saw an undisclosed amount of marijuana in plain sight on the clothing of the passenger, according to Toby Nix, public information officer with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
During a search of the vehicle, the deputy reportedly located a total of nearly 2 pounds of marijuana, 28 THC gummies and 40 THC pen cartridges.
While deputies were searching the vehicle, the driver, identified as Marcus L. Gray, reportedly began to vomit, and it was discovered that he’d swallowed a substance believed to be heroin.
Narcan was administered by deputies and EMS was called to the scene. Gray was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital to be medically cleared before being processed at the Coweta County Jail.
Once in custody, the passenger, identified as Roamme Enrique Franklin, began kicking and banging his head on the patrol car’s back seat partition while making threats of bodily harm to the deputies, Nix said.
Franklin, 37, is charged with assault, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, narcotics possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects.
Gray, 37, is charged with narcotics possession with intent to distribute, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects and speeding.
