Thank you for this video! This video and others have been helpful and informative. We have a parakeet named Jingle, she's about 7 years old, and she's recently started having seizures. We took her to the vet this morning. The vet we took her to is supposed to be one of the better and more knowledgeable when it comes to birds, and we didn't have any issues with them in the past with previous birds. But this time they seemed a bit lacking on knowing what to do or what they were witnessing when she had one right in front of the main vet. "I'm not sure what's happening" and "if she is having siezures there's not much I there can be done." At one point the vet said that we could get vallium tablets and crush one into some yogurt and try to feed her that to help. (She's a very picky eater, and I'm not sure if she'll want to eat it. Is vallium a viable treatment option?) Another option was to wait and see if she got better. If not, and she appears to be suffering, have her put down. He said that he was afraid of handling her because the stress alone could cause her to have a heart attack and pass away, which does sound reasonable. She can be very skittish sometimes. I don't know, some of what he said sounded reasonable, and some of it seemed lacking. I just hate to do anything that will make things worse. Right now we've taken the wait and see option, along with lowering all her perches and toys considerably and giving her multiple food sources. But I'm looking into seeing if there's anything else we can do to help her. A silver lining to her seizures is that she recovers almost insantly have a few seconds, even the vet made a comment about her speedy recovery. But I rather her not have them at all. Sorry for rambling! I'm just worried about her.
That is terrible I hope they feel srter
Thanks for doing this video. I have a crow with seizures and have been trying to research everything on the topic
