In the springtime, you should be out there franticly spraying weeds, both sides of your driveway and around structors, fences and of course the house.
Protecting vent tubes from accumulating dust & dirt the big box home improvement chains carry filters that will slide into your existing vents you have. Long term these filters will do a good job of keeping dirt out. Most people are surprised how often they change their filters.

When you have at least 2 dogs the anxiety is greatly reduced since they are pack animals. (Where as cats can adjust to being alone more easily.)
