I've been working on my swing daily for years. For as much as I practice, I should be WAY better. I watch swing videos regularly. I have for years. Anyway.. I feel like I know you, Saguto, Ballard, Maude etc.. better than my own cousins. If I saw you guys on the golf course I would be like.. OMG there is Eric Cogorno. It would be more interesting than if I saw Taylor Gooch. So it got me thinking.. You guys should do a tour! I would follow that around like the hippies did the grateful dead. Top 25 youtube instructors or something… It would be cool.
You omitted all the emphasis on the bent right wrist that you used in all the videos demonstrating the precision impact training aid. I think that the bent right wrist is easier for most right handers to understand and implement.
Great video, my clubface was square early but I was also trying to get that right arm more active which was closing the face more and resulting in shots missing and moving left šš¤Æ
Why do we never talk about how the plane can also open or shut the face? If I have a super strong grip, but shallow the club a tremendous amount in the downswing, the strong grip is still going to provide an open face at p6. Ive learned that the grip has to match the plane in which you come down for the face to still be in a "passive" passive position.
Great video, learned forever forearm release, made a grip change and takeaway change to get clubface square to spine angle less dependent on forearm release, thanks for the help, well defined.
This is absolutely brilliant, my friend. I play with a pretty neutral grip, so this allows me to work the ball either direction, by doing the things that you just mentioned. To hit the fadeā¦. Iāll make sure my left wrist stays flat(or slightly bowed), and basically feel like Iām holding the face off through impact(passive). I couple this with a more aggressive turn, which kicks the club out a little, to hit slightly out to in. Iāll also feel more right side bend through impact. This ALSO helps hold the face off. I play this baby fade most of the time. Howeverā¦ If I need to draw it, Iāll do more of what you mentionedā¦. Iāll be less aggressive with my body, and shoulder turn, and allow the forearms to roll over more naturally through impact. My draw swing will also feel a little flatter, to make sure I get that in to out path. I can play either way, but the fade swing, with the passive release, is a more predictable ball flight, with a more consistent strike. I have lower back issues, so some days I just have to play the draw, because like I said, the fade requires more rotation, and right side bend. Excellent video!
Iām a little confused on palm away, I saw your video with Malaska, would you consider him passive? Because he has palm down. I thought palm away would be more for a fade?
Watched your channel for a long time (loved your work with Mike Malaska) and have been investigating CBD for a few months. Your reco helped soften my trepidation. I just purchased some. Weāll see how it goes.
Great explanation of the two swing styles! Which one of those will give you the longest carry/ total distance?
As an older player, I would think a passive swing would sacrifice some distance.
I will try the palm facing away next practice session. I fight a hook so this could be gold for me. Another great video. Thanks Eric

Always an enlightening video Obi Wan, thank you!

Once again a great video Eric! This would solve a lot of people who are casting/flipping through impact.
I went golfing and got paired up with a random duo. They were super chill and gave me some CBD at the first tee.
At the 7th hole, they then pulled out some mushroom capsules to micro dose. We all took a dose and played amazing golf. 10/10 would recommend.
Any time I work on a passive release I start to shank the ball. Any tips?
