Harrisburg’s Kipona: The Kipona Festival in the capital will be held from Saturday-Monday, with artists, food, musical acts and kids’ programming. Sunday will have a laser light show at the river instead of fireworks. Police presence will be stepped up.

Allentown Fair: The Great Allentown Fair is running through Monday. It has traditional events, such as livestock shows and a demolition derby, along with rides, concerts, food and even a (fake) dinosaur display.

Gas prices: People traveling for the Labor Day 2022 holiday will pay almost $1 a gallon less for gas than they did for the Fourth of July holiday. Gas prices have declined for 11 weeks straight.

Marijuana pardons: For a short time, Pennsylvanians with minor, nonviolent marijuana criminal convictions will be eligible to be pardoned under a program led by the governor’s office.

Volunteers return: Four months after being closed over safety and other concerns, the Highspire volunteer fire company is back in service.

Hidden records: A provision in the state’s Clean Slate Law is resulting in the public losing access to troves of records about criminal cases. However, instead of changing the law, the fix is supposed to come from educating clerks.

Stroke recovery: Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, candidate for U.S. Senate, can make a full recovery from the stroke he suffered just before the primary election, according to a medical expert, but it could take months. Fetterman has said his recovery affects how he is campaigning.

Hershey market: An indoor farmers market opened yesterday at the former post office site on Chocolate Avenue in Derry Township. With 20 vendors so far, and more planned, it’ll be open Thursdays-Saturdays.

Barbecue ribs: This isn’t your typical rib dish: One13 Social in Carlisle serves Korean BBQ ribs with gochujang braise, cashews, sesame seeds and kimchi aioli.

Diner closes: Yesterday was the last day, for now, of the East Shore Diner on Cameron Street in Harrisburg. Forced to close to make way for a road project, the diner will eventually be moved, renamed and reopened.

Report card: Penn State didn’t secure its 35-31 win over Perdue last night until the final play. There were plenty of rough spots for the Lions, but they got the job done.

Close finish: Veteran quarterback Sean Clifford overcame a serious fourth-quarter mistake to lead the Nittany Lions to victory.
