For the first time in the history of the gaming industry, a major piece of hardware is getting a price increase across virtually the …

  1. It's nice that Quest 2 is so portable as a standalone gaming device, but in actuality its most important (and least advertised) feature is its ability to stream VR games (Oculus, Steam, homebrew, anything) from your PC over WiFi — and it works shockingly well even on a standard consumer-grade router. Wireless PC VR at a $300 price point, with similar quality to the $1000 Steam Index (with the only significant drawback being significantly smaller FOV), was absolutely bonkers. Even $400 is still a very competitive price.

Gonna be very interesting to see how much they ask for PSVR2. With such a huge gulf in prices for the aforementioned PC VR sets of comparable quality, and PSVR2 promising bells and whistles well beyond the competition, I don't know where to start predicting a price point.

  2. It feels like if you own a big business there is no cost of living crisis or inflation for them as they just pass it all on to the customer and continue as normal. It's just us plebs who actually feel the losses of earnings

  3. I am 100% with Dustin about this weird backlash against negative views on games and other entertainment media online. If you let other people criticizing a game affect your perception of it, that's your fault, not the internet's fault. I'm more annoyed by the fanboys alibiing every bad move or game than overly negative takes.

  4. Duel sense edge fuck that, just to pay more money for another controller that gets analog drift. All the white duel sense controllers are trash and riddled with analog drift

  5. Sony has never been the thought leader in the industry. Sony for 30 years has always been looking up to their big brother Nintendo. Sony wants to be nintendo. Thats why they copy their games.

  6. I think Colin is right on the money when it comes to GTA. Saints Row is very much the canary in the coalmine. The gameplay of GTA will obviously will be still great but the fact that the Hausers left, they are giving the same signals off as all the other pink writingroom writers including the people at Volition and the fact they are not led by Brits anymore is a big problem (sorry but you American have no sense of humor anymore about how absolutely silly your society has become….unfortunately also infecting us in Europe because that is what you do).

I think it still be fun but the humor will be either extremely stilted and just not funny. And that is a shame because how iconic would a bad ass latina be a la Griselda not giving a single fuck about anything.

  7. I think Chris really hit the nail on the head in regards to the negativity stuff. You need to understand what a reviewer is saying in relation to your own tastes. Skillup is a great example for me actually, I have not watched many of his reviews but the ones I have watched have been littered with tons of inaccuracies and him not understanding critical elements of a game's mechanics. Like his Lost Judgment review where he talks about how bosses have attacks that do tons of damage and you can't avoid them. That mechanic is called deadly attacks and a) you can dodge them and b) you can literally counter attack them for tons of damage. It's an entire system revolving around high risk/reward play. The fact he managed to beat the whole game without understanding this system despite the fact there is an unskippable tutorial explaining it AND this mechanic literally puts Batman style indicators on the screen letting you know it's about to happen is an extremely impressive feat, and I mean impressively embarrassing obviously.

So what I've gotten from his reviews is that he clearly has trouble getting a grasp on gameplay systems with any sort of nuance/skill involved. So any time I see something like "skillup said this about this combat mechanic" I can immediately just assume he is probably wrong about it in some way and move on with my day. That is the kind of mindset you have to have when it comes to game reviews. Reviewing what the reviewer says is way more important than their actual review. You have to squeeze the truth out of it yourself.

  8. Yeah Colin, don't even bother with the Yakuza 0 platinum unless you wanna rip your own balls off. It takes insane patience, as well as fairly deep knowledge of Japanese gambling games (most notably riichi mahjong).

  9. When I was working retail one summer during college, some lady with a really think New York accent would come in and complain all the time about how things were so much better in New York. My manager was also from New York and had a thick accent. After she left one time, he said, then why didn't you stay up there, I lived there for 35 years and she can have it.

  10. The longer Dustin has been on the show the more of the PlayStation fanboy juice he drinks from Colin. Does that guy ever disagree or not pander to Colin? Lol

  11. Imagine thinking actual criticisms of She-Hulk is "hate".

"nO, tHe cOnTeNt iSnT bAD, iTs eVeRyOnE eLsE tHAts jUsT HaTeFuL" 🤡

I'm glad to hear some people enjoy these shows, but to dismiss criticisms from people that don't agree with you as "hate", "misogynistic", "bigots", etc is the peak of insecurity and bigotry. I'm glad you like it, but my criticisms don't come from a play of hate. I want to enjoy these shows, they're just awful and heavy handed imo.

  12. My problem with Days Gone wasn't the bugs. I just didn't think any of the characters were likable. Literally not even one. And the game is about 30 hours too long. That game is the reason I no longer pre order games.

  13. LOL, these guys are cap. Twisted metal shows comes out in ten+ years later, why are they making this?? Yet, you believe their reaction would be like what Colin’s stated for Days gone. Gtfoh!

  14. Dustin…. make a game of your hand being out of commission and start training your left hand in advance. You can re-configure your mouse for left-hand and use a decent ambidextrous mouse and then text to speech. I had to do something similar when I tore a tendon in the bicep of my strong hand but my job wasn't overly demanding and I could get away with typing with my left hand.
    You got this, brother.

  15. I played a demo of Jack Move, didn't get to go any further when they released more demos / updated demos, but it has promise. I hope more attention comes to it.

  16. Does Chris understand that there's more mediums other than games that people watch? So these games that are turning into movies, maybe will bring in more people. Cuz trust me, my sister is never going to ever ever play a game, she might want to watch a movie though. He needs to stop this whole gatekeeping of this can't be a movie cuz it's already a game BS.

  17. Not sure i agree with the idea of giving their IPs breaks. Nintendo has been living off of mario, mario kart, zelda, pokemon etc… for decades. (Not that they haven't tried new IP)

I imagine PS would like to be in that same space with their IPs. They might be able to turn Tlou, uncharted, R&C, etc… into franchises they can milk for decades.

  18. Speaking as someone who purchased Destiny 2 and it's early expansions and not touched it since? Reinstalling it and firing it up for the first time last weekend is a total clusterfuck. It is the most unuser-friendly experience imaginable. Not including the frustration of discovering all progress, legendaries, currencies, and unlocks are gone. Can't recommend it.
