Watertown Mayor Holien Discusses Marijuana | Local News

Medical marijuana dispensaries have now opened in Watertown. The last report showed one was currently open in town. As more open across South Dakota and the impending vote of Amendment IM-27, whether to legalize marijuana recreationally or not, KXLG News spoke with Mayor Ried Holien to get his thought.

The City has yet to start any preliminary discussions to prepare if IM-27 is approved. It’s also uncertain if the City will adopt or have to adopt any business sales license, similar to a beer or liquor license.

Holien said he felt it could be passed, but he will vote no, personally…

If no exceptions are made or the alleviation of drug tests for marijuana, employers could face an even more difficult time finding hirable employees.
