An 81-year-old Moreno Valley resident was arrested on suspicion of marijuana cultivation and possession on Wednesday, Oct. 26, after the Riverside County Sheriffβs Department searched his Pigeon Pass Road property.
The Sheriffβs Department said Calvin Ray Wiekamp had 130 pounds of marijuana packaged for sales, 190 pounds of processed marijuana and 152 mature marijuana plants.
Wiekamp was released the same day after posting $5,000 bail, county jail records show.
Riverside County Animal Services examined four cows, three horses and bulls on the property after deputies expressed concern about their condition.
Although the cows and horses were underweight, Animal Services spokesman John Welsh said, they were not in poor enough condition to be seized. Wiekamp, Welsh said, was expected to return to the property to care for the animals. Animal Services issued a notice of violation that requires the animals to be seen by a veterinarian, Welsh said.
βWe will continue to monitor the animals,β Welsh said.
