Sweet Flower is one of the first pot shops with a license in Chico, but they still need workers. That’s why it held a job fair today at Day Camp Coffee.
Co-owner to Sweet Flower, Colleen Winter told Action News Now what their expectations for the company is, “I think we’re hoping that the city of Chico embraces something that’s new. This is kind of a once in a lifetime thing that’s happening here. We’re actually going to open the first legal dispensary in Chico.”
Winter said, they’re putting a lot of work into making sure the new business is a success, “put a lot of time and energy here into Meriam Park, it’s a beautiful place so we wanted to make sure that whatever we brought here was just as beautiful and that’s what we found with Sweet Flower….. and when we’re bringing something like cannabis into a town that’s never had it before, we want to make sure that it’s done right and want to make sure that it’s done very professionally”
They’re still building the dispensary but Winter described what people will see when they first walk in, “It’s a very modern brand for the cannabis consumer…all the interiors are light, they’re bright, they’re actually beautiful”
“There’s been dozens of people shuffling in and out of this job fair today hoping to get a position at Chico’s first pot shop. I spoke with a few potential employees about why they think it’s important to have legal marijuana in Chico.”
Nathan Velasquez was at the fair in hopes of getting a job with Sweet Flower. He said he believes it’s important to have easier access to marijuana because, “it gives people a sense of normalcy as opposed to the stigma that’s sort of surrounded cannabis throughout its cultivation…one of the multiplutudes [sic] of benefits of having a store front dispensary here in chico is the tax revenues, it can kind of help supply and increase to the city to support various kinds of programs”
Sweet Flower is one of three dispensaries with a license in Chico. They don’t have an opening date set but are planning to open as soon as possible in Meriam Park.
