Dangers of KRATOM and an Introduction for New Users (MUST WATCH!)

There’s so much more to kratom than most people know about or will even discuss especially in the kratom community. But Walt …

  1. I’m a chef, im on my feet all day I have two kitchen jobs 7am to 11pm. My lower back is starting to get really tired and a little bit I’d pain should I use Kratom for the pain ?

  2. sorry man but kratom is no where close to withdrawing from oxycontin. and pharmaceuticals are not selective they target all opiates in the body. the only pharmaceutical opiate that is selective is suboxone its a partial antagonist. and even suboxone has worse withdrawals then kratom . kratom isn't that bad compared to hydrocodone and oxycodone man trust me .

  3. I take kratom … it makes me eat like nobody's business.. also when I use the bathroom I feel like I'm giving birth no watery stool. So far the best brand I have tried and I've tried many .. is happy hippo kratom

  4. This is the first video of yours I watched and you get an immediate sub. Was on hydrocodone for 4 years for post-surgical pain then was forced to quit quickly 2 years ago when my doctor died suddenly. I was left taking gabapentin only, which wasn't giving me a great quality of life, so when I saw a Joey video on Kratom (then a bunch more) I decided to try it. It was so great at first that I used it to get off of gabapentin completely. Now I almost wish I'd never heard of it. To be clear, I've chosen to suffer rather than let my daily use ever get huge, but still taking breaks is really difficult, and the level of benefits achieved at first does not appear to be sustainable long term, at least not without a level of expense I can't afford. This video of yours gives the proper level of caution, which I appreciate much. Looking forward to seeing more

  5. You hit the nail on the head man. I have been using for 2 years and it got outta hand quickly. Lately I've been getting pains in my abdomen so I'm stopping. You're right about it fucking up hormones. I was bulking up too and lost so much weight. It's fucking bad

  6. Great video and much appreciated! The overall info re Kratom use is good. However, I’ve been using Kratom daily for two months with a few episodes of withdrawal, but, having taken OxyContin regularly in the past for hip pain, the withdrawal from Kratom, compared with OxyContin, is a “walk in the park”; it’s real, but no way near as bad and can be managed with little effort. Best regards!

  7. Good stuff but I’ll like to add respectfully that most troubled with Kratom don’t discuss abuse itself- abuse is taking more and more and more, so all the science stuff about receptor’s etc sounds smart but It’s simple, don’t eat cake every day or face weight gain along with all the problems related to weight gain. It’s the same with alcohol, drugs etc, you’re not supposed to take massive amounts of anything and if you do, then…..isn’t it greed? or do we substitute greed with words like addiction cause it sounds sweeter?

  8. I listen to Joey and came across your channel today. As an recovering alcoholic and addict, I can attest to the risks. The key point I get from this and Joey's channel is to treat Kratom with respect. I went through a phase where I was taking too much and experienced mild withdrawal symptoms but they did not affect me that badly. I use a journal to track my intake and take a break every 6 weeks. Tapering dosages' has helped greatly with withdrawals. I'm glad to share any experiences with that if anyone needs help or encouragement.

  9. Your so full of sh*t I don't know where to start, first off yes Kratom is an opioid it has been proven it is fact, look up Hamilton Morris and learn some stuff first hand before you spew your bs.2nd it is far less addictive than any other opioid on earth and you can come off it very easy if you know how to taper your doses everyday.I took 20 grams a day for around a year with no problems except tolerance,so I instantly cut to 16 grams a day for maybe a month, zero problems, after that month I cut it to 8 grams a day and had a tiny bit of sleep problems and sweat a tiny bit a common cold would be much worse.I have been taking Kratom for a little over 5 years and unlike you I was a hardcore addict on opiates and alcohol I had overdosed many times and hospitalized a couple on my deathbed and they brought me back.I have been sober for a little over 5 years because of kratom.I was on dilaudid among many other opiates and for you to compare the two is just strait laughable anyone reading this if you have an opiate problem or even alcohol give a good safe kratom a chance, this muscle dummy has no idea what the f*ck he is talking about. If you are dope sick just try 5 grams of a good red and tell me it is bad…

  10. Finally a video that I'm able to find acknowledgement from what I've been experiencing as far as the pain. My L5 -S1 is damaged and I also have 6 children doing it alone im looking for a pain relief alternative. This chronic pain is agonizing and just to Finally have someone explain what I feel just makes me feel understood. Can you give me some advice on how to move forward with pain manage waking up is so difficult because of the stiffness and the aching all through the day. I don't talk about my suffering much because I was raised to hold in pain. I'm on tramdol now I feel so much guilt when I do and I try to limit as much as I can the issues is if I don't I can barely function for my children especially being the only support they have im emotionally and physically overwhelmed. Thankfully my spirit is strong. Thank you for your in depth insight 🙏

  11. I hear you and respect what your saying, but you're speaking from personal experience. There are also a ton of people with the complete opposite experience as you. Kratom IS NOT a one size fits all supplement. That is what I have found out in my 6 yrs of taking kratom and advocating for kratom.

  12. I watched your videos on your recovery from surgery as I am having surgery next week. I’m not sure if you have tried using a TENS machine or not but I’m in so much pain pre-surgery I thought I would mention it as I got one yesterday and it’s a great means of alternative non-medicated pain management. I use it along with my prescription painkillers when I’m just lying on my bed. I saw that if you’re in the US you may need a doctors prescription for it (I’m in New Zealand and we can just buy them over the counter at pharmacies etc), but if you could even just hire one to see if it works for you, I recommend giving it a shot.

  13. This vid is helpful! I’m a daily user 2x per day but as u said I have noticed that maybe I should start taking an extra dose for my fibromyalgia break through pain which scares me.

  17. NIH published Yale University. Focus: “Plant-based Medicine and Pharmacology: Kratom and Pain Tolerance: A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind Study”

    Methods:

Kratom effects on pain tolerance were assessed in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study. During a 1-day inpatient stay, participants received a randomized sequence of kratom and placebo decoctions matched for taste and appearance. Pain tolerance was measured objectively in a cold pressor task (CPT) as time (seconds) between the pain onset and the hand withdrawal from the ice bath. Health status, vital signs, objective, and subjective indicators of withdrawal symptoms, self-reported data on lifetime kratom use patterns, and assessments of blinding procedures were also evaluated.

    Conclusions:

Kratom decoction demonstrated a substantial and statistically significant increase in pain tolerance. Further rigorous research on kratom pain-relieving properties and a safety profile is needed.

  22. “Is Kratom addictive?

Is coffee addictive? Are you addicted to chocolate?

Asking questions like this is a bit misguided. In none of these examples we ask whether plants themselves are addictive. Instead, we question the potential for abuse of active alkaloids in each plant.

Alkaloids: one of a class of nitrogenous organic compounds derived from plants that have been pronounced physiological actions in humans.

In simple English, alkaloids are any chemicals in plants that cause real effects when consumed by humans. Caffeine, for example, is an active alkaloid in coffee beans that is responsible for the stimulating effect of coffee. Nicotine is an alkaloid in tobacco, and theobromine & caffeine are alkaloids in chocolate (chocolate).

There are about 20 active alkaloids in the Kratom plant. The two dominant alkaloids responsible for plant effects are Mitragynine (MG) and 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-HMG). Of all the alkaloids in Kratom, MG is the most common, making up about 60% of all alkaloid profiles. In contrast, 7-HMG only makes up 2% of the alkaloid profile. Therefore, it is believed that MG is the alkaloid responsible for most of the effects reported by Kratom users; such as relieving anxiety, relieving pain and regulating moods.

"The main effect of kratom is most likely produced by MG with the possible contribution of 7-OH-MG.

(from Pinney Associates's 8-factor analysis of potential kratom abuse)

With this in mind, we should reframe a little the original question: Is Mitragynine addictive?

According to a study conducted by the Society for the Study of Addiction published in June '18 in the Journal of Addiction Biology (a peer-reviewed academic journal), "These findings indicate that MG has no potential for abuse and reduces morphine intake, a desirable characteristic of pharmacotherapy candidates for opiate addiction and withdrawal … "So, in other words, MG does not match the potential abuse profile assigned to addictive substances, such as heroin and Oxycontin. More about that here. In fact, in the study, they gave mice with Morphine for several days in a row, and then turned it into MG for several days. After their time with MG, Morphine was again available to them, and they showed a reduced likelihood of returning to using Morphine. This is what is referred to in the quote above when they show that it "reduces morphine intake". Which, as the authors say, makes it a very promising potential therapy for opiate & withdrawal addiction.

In addition, when looking at potential drug abuse, the main factor considered is the effect that the substance has on the daily lives of users. For example, the majority of cocaine or heroin users report a drastic negative impact on their ability to engage with work, friends, and life in general. The use of kratom does not fit this description at all. In fact, according to Pinney Associates 8-factor analysis, "Consumption usually does not interfere with work or social activities and commitments, and in fact kratom is widely reported in the US, as in Southeast Asia, to contribute to work productivity, quality of life, and social relations. "So, unlike abuse drugs, kratom seems to improve the quality of life for many users, as opposed to reducing it. It is interesting to read this description as presented by scientific research.”

  24. It’s important to note the DRAMATIC difference between adulterated vs non adulterated.

Issues are when the 7-OH alkaloid is artificially inflated by 500%. In the plain leaf it’s only 2%

  28. “Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are the primary active alkaloids responsible for the effects of kratom. Despite its interaction with opioid receptors, mitragynine is not structurally similar to traditional opioid medications.”

“Another key difference between kratom and traditional opioids is the lack of beta-arrestin-2 recruitment, which may explain the reduced side effects and risk of respiratory depression seen with kratom”

“It has been postulated that in addition to the opioid receptor effects, kratom may provide a second mechanism to potentially alleviate pain with these pathways that have already been well characterized and utilized for modern approaches to pain management with TCAs and SNRI medications.7 There is also evidence to suggest kratom has anti-inflammatory effects from cyclooxygenase-2 inhibition.”

  29. Effects of Kratom on kidneys, liver, thyroid and glucose

(I even have a damaged kidney from a birth defect. I was told the kidney would need to be removed when I got to be 40-50. I’m 57 and no issues whatsoever with my kidneys)

“There were no significant alterations found in the hematological and biochemical of kratom users, except for a decrease in white cell count after a 3-month interval. In general, the kidney, liver function tests, thyroid, and glucose parameters were not significantly affected. Calcium, total protein, and globulin levels were significantly increased at T2 compared to T1, but all these parameters were within the normal reference range. There were alterations in the lipid profile, where total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol parameters were elevated at both T1 and T2, while significant increase in HDL cholesterol, and decrease in triglycerides levels were observed at T2 compared to T1.

    Conclusion

Our results indicated that continuous consumption of kratom decoction at a daily mitragynine dose of 76.3–114.8 mg did not appear to alter the safety hematological and biochemical parameters of kratom users.”
