Has Dr Esselstyn lost his mind? Is he senile? He’s about 90 years old. Can’t expect much from an old codger like that. Or is he a …

Eating WFPBNO is good and healthy but Dr. E approach is very severe with limited scientific studies. If it was ultimate, there would have been large RCT double blinded. Even the study of reversal of stenosis that was published with about 200 people has multiple issues like no control, statin use etc. I rarely find RCT in vegan community. Dr. Gregor in recent TV show in Britian had a hard time convincing neutral news personal against Keto kind of diet and seemed to be rumbling against other diet person who also was talking nonsense. The show was pathetic and shows Dr. Gregors vulnerability.
Three largest and longest statistically valid ( very low p) RCTs, namely Lyon, PREDIMED, and recent CORDIOPREV on CVD/Heart disease did not have Dr. E kind of approach but gave good idea on healthy diet with veggies and fruits besides other stuff.
We are still wavering hands and either we put faith or doubt. I doubt unlike you who have sound mitochondrial fundamental understanding on IR//diabetes, Dr. E has ever mentioned about IR. Insulin signal is needed to lower apoB and multiple lipids issue are correlated to thyroid, insulin etc.
Happiness is far more important as activates all happy hormones suppressing stressed ones. Most Blue Zone people looked happy.
I follow WFPBNO but do not do like Dr. E wants- I am happy with all kind of veggies and fruits and somehow do not think 6 servings or steaming etc. is needed unless perhaps I had several heart attacks – Not sure what I would then. I know many who try to follow his diet but not as rigorously- At the end, whichever diet one adopts, there would still be multiple issues- So finding healthy veggie diet for self that keeps us happy may be the best strategy.
There is NO proof that chewing greens SIX times a day does any more to benefit the heart or prevent heart attacks…. any more than just eating greens a couple times a day with your daily lunch and dinner. NOTHING proven. As for Dr Bryan he is simply hawking hugely expensive supplements. $80 for 60 capsules… with zero proof they arrive in your blood in such a manner as to improve health. Again, NOTHING proven. This idea about chewing greens six times a day is just wishful thinking on the part of Dr. Esselstyn. Not science based. They try to link their theory to results that are totally unproven in a real trial.
Bottom line, Dr. Bryan is all about selling supplements. Look him up and separate truth from hype.. Pure internet hype to sell products.
I follow Dr Caldwell Esselstyns plan strictly every day and have done so for 6 years….sometimes I just wonder about the amount of protein I'm getting. (Dr McDougall has expressed concerns about that)..often around 80 when for me it should only be about 50 and you need to take care of your teeth around vinegar…..rinse immediately after…limit to 4 drops ..no more etc
My memory was different, seemed to me that long ago Dr. Esselstyn had advised lots of greens, multiple times a day. So I did a YouTube search & quickly found one posted 8 years ago, where beginning at minute 12:50 he starts in on his recommendations that people with heart disease eat cooked leafy greens multiple times a day. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/HpQJk-h3IwY
Definitely can't hurt! Essie wants those green "anointed" with vinegar. Something about the chemistry along with the tongue bacteria. I wonder is it is OK to boil them sometimes but sometimes just grab a handful of arugula and eat it? Much easier to just grab a handful whenever! I've read all this stuff about beets being included. Some worry about oxalates. In my experience, probably oxalates from beets, spinach, tea, no biggie UNLESS someone is also eating meat. I've on occasion eaten enough beets to have beet colored pee and poop. Never felt bad but didn't experience anything outstanding the other direction either! As for Johnson health, only two substance I've ever taken that maybe had a positive effect: sardines which many decry since they are meat and have TMAO although not high enough on the food chain for toxic metals and some beneficial minerals eaten whole as well as Omega 3, and Bempedoic Acid with Ezitimbe. Main side effect reported is ruptured Achilles Tendon. Scared me off the stuff. Ruptured Achilles and no exercise for a year? No IDK? Some at USC say people who eat 5-9% total calories from sardines and such live longer than 100% vegans. IDK? Sardinia is a Blue Zone. Some in the UK say those that one thing common to MOST not ALL 90 year old's is they drink a glass of wine or have a beer most days. Again, IDK. Sometimes I think a lot of doctors are like the observers of an unbeknownst to them, dying fly. The fly lands on a leaf of a bush, drops dead and falls of the leaf. The observers conclude the bush is toxic and killed the fly! Love to hear back. I like your style and humor.
Search YouTube for and watch starting at 39 minutes for at least 5 minutes, he has been saying this for at least 9 years….

I think Dr. Bryant’s papers are published. However he also responds to email and will send them to you.
Please let us know your thoughts on this if you get new thoughts related to cardiac/arteriosclerosis, thanks. I am hoping this can work/help. Also if oxygen is one of the issues for cancer what about the prospects of hyperbaric chambers?
Dr. E started his love of greens after Japanese studies showed eating greens 6 x a day actually increased the number of endothelial progenitor cells for repair of the endothelium. It wasn't just NO production. You won't be senile at 90, Dr. Rogers…Dr. E isn't now.

Wondering on your thoughts?
Heya Peter… he has actually been saying that for a long time. Much love brother 🧡🙏🏼

I really enjoy listening to the Eisensteins, so smart and caring.
Thanks.
If the science is independently funded and peer reviewed why not have a read or listen to what he has to say.

Dr. Joel Furhman has been saying for years that salad should be the main meal- a huge salad. 😊
Sounds like it could be very useful for someone post COVID with super sticky coagulable blood and hyper activated platelets.
Dr. Esselstyn is a favorite of mine. I feel my best when I follow his diet plan. My endothelium has never been stronger.

Dr. Esselstyn allows caffeinated tea.
I eat kale for breakfast, beetroot for lunch, arugula for dinner. No way I'm doing it 6 times though

No he is not
He is brilliant
Make a green smoothie and sip on it throughout the day
