  1. I hope this kid can learn from this, do some more research, and be more open to it. It didn't sound like he was some sort of raving bigot, just a clueless kid that doesn't have any understanding of what it means to be trans.

I really appreciate the way Naomi doesn't immediately talk down to people and really seems more interested in educating and discussing the topics instead of just dunking on them repeatedly. Although it is fun to have the dunks when they're warranted too.

  2. He seems like a teenager who's parents are heavily influencing his perspective. Near the end of the debate you can hear who I assume is his mum say "no" in response to his question, "Are these independent groups." I can only assume that this is the case. You can hear the lady in the background try to explain him out of what you're saying. It's just a guess tho.

  3. I think it's hard for some people to understand that gender dysphoria isn't a choice. Transitioning is a choice, but being trans/having gender dysphoria is not a choice.

I'd also myself just rather deal with the risks of taking antidepressants, than not and just be depressed and suffer. Every medicine has risks, but some definitely have fewer risks. I mean there's risks and side effects to chemotherapy, doesn't mean it's bad and we shouldn't give it to people.

  4. It’s like looking at myself 10 years ago lol he doesn’t get it yet but hopefully this debate can work towards deradicallization
If you make it into the comments try watching Contra points or more of Naomi
Also, not saying this kid is closeted, but if you’re closeted like I was I recommend coming out sooner rather than later. As a wise elder trans told me, “the feeling only gets stronger” Happy New Years everyone 🎉

  5. 10:47 ish. Nail on the head. Iv been socal for years and now medical for 5 months. I can absolutely say that my body more closely representing me has absolutely helped socially and in turn helped squash my depression and massively improved the way I see my future.
