Listening to this, I understand how George Winston (and countless others, I'm sure) was/were inspired to take up piano…and how, as sophisticated as I like my jazz music to be, some of my favorites in the genre are this tuneful and sweet.
Vince's songs are so great! Born in SF, CA, some of his first recordings were with the Cal Tjader band during the 1950's in Concord, CA (near where I live). I just recorded a tribute to Vince on my channel, to see if his songs work in any style. Yep, his songs work in any style! Even Bluegrass and Rock! (see AC Ward Linus & Lucy or Xmas Time for examples :). Vince Forever!
This song was played on WNEW-FM to close the broadcasts of one of the DJ's. It might be Pete Fornatale. It was right before the news every day, and Sundays.
A sweet song that from the first moment you hear it sounds so familiar that you can’t place a finger on it and how you know it. It’s just the sound of happiness, uncertainty, naivety all wrapped into one. If the concept of childhood could be produced through sound, it’d be this song.
A thousand years ago, one of the local NYC fm radio station d.j.'s used this as their opening theme. It was maybe Vince scelsa or Dennis elsis on wnew. Late 60's early 70's.
When the name of Vince guaraldi comes up, everybody thinks of A Charlie Brown Christmas, but I think of Cast Your Fate To The Winds! This was a big song on WNEW FM New York in the late 60s, played frequently by DJs Scott Muni and Jonathan Schwartz, and by Jean Shepherd over at WOR AM.
If you are looking for a good reason to be checked out by a cardiac physician in your forties, let Vince's death convince you that it is not too soon to do that.
This was a jazz song that became a pop hit on my favorite radio station WABC in NYC. My late mom loved it and so did I. This song reminds me of her. Long live the genious of Vince Guaraldi, the Peanuts music man.
You know Vince Guaraldi's piano playing the second you hear it, he just had that magic at the keys. This is such a wonderful piece that makes me smile every time I hear it. Thank you, Mr. Guaraldi.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this song./It reminds me of a carefree drive down the coast,or CARRYING ON WITH YOUR LIFE.i finally HEARD THE DJ ANNOUNCE THE NAME TODAY,SO IT WILL STAY IN MY MEMMORY
This tune has been stuck in my head for days, in fact over the last few years. I couldn't remember the title let alone who played it I was 7 when I first heard it. Tonight I decided to do some detective work and it played off. Whew, now I've at least a name to go with the tune buzzing around in my head. And it's still as good as when I first heard it.
I was reading an article about Charlie Brown, and it was talking about the song and how I needed to listen to it right now… My 7-year-old son came upstairs and immediately said "that sounds like Charlie Brown music!" Wow!!
This album, started my Christmas, for many years….My brother had a tape of this album, and EVERY Christmas we wud play it….it was a standard!!!…i spent many Christmases with him, his wife, and my 2 Nieces and Nephew (my God Son)…..i cant begin to express the emotio s of hearing this again…..He passed from cancer, and we havent done a Christmas thing since, think its tough on everybody, but theJOY of hearing this again brings light into my heart….TY utube for allowing this post, and TY to the beautiful person that posted it…..you JUST gave my heart a boost!!!!TY, ans MERRY CHRISTMAS, to anyone who believes in our savior!!!

Are there any video recordings of Vince playing live?
James Gang – "The Bomber"
There is something special about Vince Guaraldi. Of course, his immortality is thanks to the Peanuts song.
Such a wistful beautiful tune. Brings
back wonderful memories of a time
that doesn't feel all that long ago.
Inspirational! 😊
Music and memories go together. I’ve loved this song for a very long time. I think of sailboats.

I'm a big jazz fan in general but over the years Vince Guaraldi's has become my favourite.

A singular talent. I love Joe Walsh's version in "The Bomber." Joe loves his classical music!
I am learning to play the piano and this was one the songs I most wanted to play.
I love the way he locks out space in the last 20 measures….
