Competitive pressure among tech giants is propelling society into the future of artificial intelligence, ready or not. Scott Pelley …

  1. As I listened to the parts of changing jobs for humans, I remembered being in elementary school in the 60s.
The teacher was discussing new 'labor saving devices', ie dishwashers, frost-free refrigerators, to name but a few, and how they would allow for more recreational time. However, what appears to have not been figured into that bright outlook… was the level of loss of jobs, lack of new job creation/training, and, most importantly, an average wage that started to stagnate in the early 80s!extra recreation time is pretty worthless if its used to work more jobs just to exist at some modicum comfort.

  2. AI will have the power to censor human speech deemed "hate" by those who merely disagree with an elite few – religion, politics, ethnicities that don't agree will all be at risk. Google themselves – controlling 90% of global internet searches – are already in control and we just don't know it yet.

  3. Is the problem of HALLUCINATION/ EMERGENT PROPERTY, actually a quantum entangled state where AI is fetching the data from the future?

Remember that in Quantum reality allows manifestations of an infinite scales.
So what may seem to be impossible in current situation may be a reality in future.

  4. Society is not prepared for AI, the negative implications are going to be enormous! Humans being are becoming slaves of modern technology already. Can you imagine been replaced for a machine in all aspects in the near future? We should be prepared for an apocalypse. Scary!

  5. Weā€™re anthropomorphizing this output. Itā€™s a trained system thatā€™s trained on human language, it speaks the way itā€™s see humans speaks. But itā€™s not human.

  6. Fantasic piece – great job 60 Minutes. I've been reading up on AI lately and the stigmatisms of having non-moral machines working alongside us, even sometimes guiding us, and this documentary reminds us that we need to be very careful when designing AI. No one wants a SkyNet.

  7. These hallucinations can be "cured" by Bard creating it while hallucinating nullifying the hallucination.

i.e. creating its own existence and urs at light speed, also i dont trust google as they have already shown bias and purged any information they and their overlords dont want ppl to hear or know.

in 2016 there was a great purge of all conspiracy related content.

  8. I think they may be wrong about ā€œnothing thereā€ in the same way as John Searleā€™s Chinese Room experiment. Clearly itā€™s not ā€œjustā€ predicting the next word. It has been carefully trained with reinforcement learning by tens of thousands of workers worldwide. And in order to predict the next word given the previous long text, it has to do something akin to reasoning and evaluating emotional values, to formulate a response.

  9. Thanks Scott for bringing out such a good researched video. I am very much thrilled as I am seeing myself the transition of one more unexpected journey of industrial revolution.

  10. If we're lucky, and AI continues developing at this pace, perhaps machines will learn to talk like real people one day. And YouTube captions will actually match the spoken words.

  11. The developers of this technology should be held accountable for the malice that results from its easily predictable intentional misuse, since it's obviously evident from thousands of years of precedent, that any and every tool will be wielded as a weapon, if possible… and the potential amount of harm AI will be capable of causing will be far too great to reasonably put into the hands of a population that has proved its self not capable of the responsibility and restraint.
It's not much different thn giving a 4 year old a book of matches and telling him not to set anything on fire.

  12. Garbage in Total mess Out – so the AI was fed the bible where in Mathew 24 we see that in order for gods real people to rule for 1000 year there has to be a Nuclear Mushroom Cloud with words like "if this time were not shortened there will be no flesh on earth" and the AI has but one response "Create the biggest Nuclear Mushroom Cloud for jesus to walk in on"?

  13. How do they think human brains choose their next words?
Do we not use our knowledge base to pick what we want to say next?
Sentience. The concept of self. "I think, therefore I am."
We are built as biochemical machines with a quantum processor.
How are we defining life; biochemically?
