Freeze-Drying and Curing Cannabis Buds Professor DeBacco Not a New Method The general concept has been around for many …

Good insight. I'm currently looking at several moisture capturing alternatives for curing processes that involve freezing. One involves layering salt that is separated from the buds. Recirculating air. The other is by using a highly pure alcohol in order to capture the moisture.
You don't want to hang dry your plants in 45% relative humidity. You want to target 60/60. 60 degree's and 60% relative humidity. You want your flower at the end process to be 60% moisture. So if you are drying in 45% your flower will be 45% therefore being to dry. Obviously you can try to time it and take it out and jar it before it reaches 45% humidity but why risk it? Also it causes it to dry faster making it a more harsh smoke. If your dry tent is 60% relative humidity you can leave your plant in there for however long you want and it will stay 60%. If you have it at 45% and you leave it in there to long it can over dry. This is just my personal experience from what I've obtained by growing over a thousand plants. I could be wrong.
Here's the thing…a long hang dry with limited but present moisture will allow microbes to break down sugars which makes for a tastier product. Some cultivars are delicious fresh while others require that breakdown process before developing its good flavors. These would be a poor choice for freeze drying.
i live on n the tropics, outdoor grow. This time of year its 35C. Is there a cheap easy way to slow down the drying process? my plants will dry within two days.
hello, I am looking for the settings during the different processes of freeze drying cannabis flowers, I am doing a test soon but I have only one chance. I take all the advice, thanking you for reading me. cordially
The problem with freeze-drying is that it doesn't involve the natural fermentation process that curing does over weeks. This is why Acapulco Gold is legendary because of the fermentation process of burying it in red dirt which harbors special beneficial microbes that aid in fermenting and curing the bud.
if your looking for a nice and clean desinfectionmethod use an uv-light once a day wear gloves and uv-400/500 or just heavy welding glasses. no chemicals needed only kills microorganisms like bacteria and doesnt "burn" the trychomes only needs seconds of exposure if u apply this every day while curing. especially helpfull if a large bud develops mold and you wanna desinfect the surrounding after pulling off the moldy excess. propably also helps against the tiny white wolly things should dry them out might help if you dont wanna expose your flower to soapy water haha compressed air from a reasonable distance should also help a lot
But doesn't thc separate and fall off when you freeze it? I know if you put flowers in the freezer and shake it all the keif falls right off so I just feel like you would lose something

what about chlorofil?
normal dry and curing = taste… Freeze dry = no taste, and buds full green and chlorophyl. just for industry, not for real smokers.
This is all wonderful but it's not for your hobby cannabis grower.

Well now I wount a cryogenics seed and weed bank , A#1 all that says yes / them
Still a very new thing here in South Africa, haven’t actually had any freeze dried buds
I like grove bags.😊😊
Professor Debacco you are Amazing

I would never freeze cure. Trichromes will freeze and break off. Chlorophyll will not break down. Thc will not become psychoactive.
Did you used to be a weather man 🤔
You slowed down on your uploads. Reason why ?
Great information…but how to do all or any of these? What are the steps or ways to do this?
Is it possible to do it with dry ice in a sealed thermic container?
Dr I absolutely love your mini presentations!

How is this a home-grower method when the cheapest machine costs $2000? Am I missing something.
