  1. Ok so just to clear confusion here, what she does here isn’t whistle notes, yes they are high enough to be whistle notes but whistle notes take a TOTALLY different placement in the vocal cords, they’re so breathy and pretty much sound like when you yawn. In fact that’s how they can get achieved, by yawning and trying to consistently take it higher each time and sustain it! But this woman was singing in head voice register, which still requires to vocal cords to fully connect. Anyways n to all the comments saying this came before Mariah or she came before Mariah, actually Mariah’s career debuted first, in 1990, this woman’s debut was a year later in 1991. Therefore Mariah HAD been in the scene with songs WITH whistle notes in them. This woman was most likely inspired by that. Ppl need to do their research and stop spreading misinformation talkin abt “Mariah learned from her” or “Lisa was doing this first”. First off, that’s unlikely because while Lisa IS older, mariah has been doing whistle notes since she was a little 3-5 year old kid listening to Minnie Ripperton songs, and what Lisa was doing is a controlled, VERY high head voice, and that takes training, u can’t just go to headvoice THAT high like u can with whistle notes if ur naturally gifted. Therefore Lisa had to TRAIN her voice to go that high in a healthy technique which is HIGHLY unlikely she got the hang of it in her childhood years like Mariah did with whistle register.

  2. She came out as a solo artist in 1991 so after Mariah. She was doing back up for Luther Vandross and The Rolling Stones for years and that’s what she preferred over the limelight so she went back. Amazing talent

  3. Of course Lisa is 11 years older than Mariah and was born 5 years before Whitney. She was singing that whistle note when Mariah was trying to hum along to Sesame Street. Mariah and Whitney are mixtures of her. By the way, again, let the singers sing. You can do a great reaction without that poor voice of yours.
