As someone who lives with chronic pain, legalizing marijuana might allow me to ween off of the opioids I have to take multiple times a day just to be able to function. It has no more detrimental an effect than alcohol and would be very beneficial to people like myself, not to mention the money that Indiana could make from it.

BS. Anyone who is going to drive impaired was doing so already during prohibition. Legalization doesn't magically create a massive amount of new users nor impaired drivers. For the most part, it's the very same people who were already using cannabis during prohibition that use it after legalization. Reefer madness is only pushed and believed by a very small, lunatic-fringe-minority of the American people. The rest of us just laugh our butts off at the uber desperate lies, fear mongering and scare tactics.
The state police superintendent seems really concerned about a supposed increase in auto accidents because of the legalization of marijuana in neighboring states, but it would be interesting to know if he's just as worried about the fact that there's a liquor store on almost every street corner of the city…
So Doug Carter is against Marijuana but ok with all the liquor stores on every corner ? Get these ppl out of the positions they hold
