Thank you so much for this information. I can't find any info. online about what Wellbutrin did to me (paralysis, intense pain for months, lose of use of limb) but I understand from an urgent care visit and a quick medigoogle the practitioner did that day that muscle weakness is listed as a side effect. If I had known it had this level of impact on dopamine I would not have let the dr put me on it for one second, since I know what that does in my body.
Im about 8 weeks into buprophin and im getting more depressed and irritability. Im at low dose. Started taking it after i quit drinking a couple months ago. Not sure to get off this or try higher dose?
What are the long term effects of prolonged abuse? I’ve been addicted to Wellbutrin for years and have snorted it as my means of ingestion. What is going to happen to me?
This drugs hell. I’m 19 trying to find my way in life and this is making me more confused and giving me thoughts of the past and thoughts of suicide worse than ever. I can barely function and don’t feel like myself one bit I wouldn’t recommend it I need to quit taking this shit.
I was put on Wellbutrin after my husband passed away. It kept me in a deep, dark hole for an entire year. I weaned myself off, and the darkness lifted and I actually felt like living again. No more for me, thanks.
I've found this medication helpful. It has done a fair bit for my depression. And since I have bipolar disorder, my practitioner thought this medication would be less risky than adding another snri or an ssri. I was already on 90mg of duloxotine along with lurasidone for my mood. (The lurasidone also helps a bunch for anxiety.) And focalin for the adhd. (Also on promethazine since the lurasidone makes me nauseated.) I guess I'm a more complex case. But I also spend so much more time in depression than mania or hypomania. Depression has been the hardest aspect of my mental health to help. And I also have seasonal depression. It made a pretty big difference this last winter. I had the least depressed winter last year since I was a pre-teen. (About 25 years ago.)
All medications come with risks vs benefits. And different people can have very different reactions to the same meds. On an average day, I take 5 medications. But it took a good long time, with lots of trial and error before we found the right combo for me. The one medication I truly hate with a passion is Seraquil. I understand that it can work well for some people. But for me, I was unable to engage in normal daily life activities since it was so overwhelmingly sedating. And it didn't help with the depression or anxiety. Just the mania/hypomania. I've remained the most stable on my current medication list and dosages than I have any other medication assortments. And what I am on now has given the least amount of side effects.
The biggest side effect I get from the buproprion is dry mouth for a few hours after taking it. It's not a huge deal though, because I can just have a drink nearby.
Is there any other antidepressant other than Wellbutrin, that doesn't cause sexual side effects? Somebody please answer this or tell me what works . Thank you
Long story short, ever since last year I’ve had a strange feeling in my chest, shortness of breath and tingling hands. There have been 2 times in the last year where I thought I was having a heart attack and 1 of them was when I was driving. It scared the shit out of me. Went to the doctor and my EKG was good, but my blood tests say I have high cholesterol and low vitamin D. My doctor thinks this might be due to anxiety and depression (I don’t think I’m depressed) so I just got prescribed Wellbutrin and this comment section is making me nervous.
Edit: still haven’t taken the Wellbutrin. Too many negative side effects
Wellbutrin also makes your sweat stink highly of onions. And the smell is hard to get rid of. Your clothes will start to hold that awful smell and it doesn't come out in the wash. It's not a good side effect
I was on this for about a year and it was horrible. My anxiety was through the roof, I had extreme trouble sleeping and had increased vivid nightmares and had constant jitters. It was not a good experience and I’m glad I’m no longer on it.
Doctors try to put me on Wellbutrin I had a panic episode after my ex boyfriend tried to killl me. Long story short I was out on Wellbutrin it gave me the most horrific stomach pain I’ve experienced I tried everything eating before taking it … nothing helped once I completely stopped my stomach healed . Thank god I don’t listen to doctors I am my own doctors it’s my body and I know what’s harmful and what’s not
My dad switched to this from Fluoxetine because he wanted the the added benefit of not smoking. He killed himself without warning within two weeks of the change. Be careful 🙏
I have been watching several youtube videos by various doctors on this medication and have never heard it has similar effects as cocaine (nor the various street names you list)… in high doses you state. It would be helpful if you gave a range of what might be considered a high dose. I am familar with the risks of seizures and other possible side effects. Thank you.
I've been taking Bupropion for depression and ADHD for 3 months and it doesn't give me any side effects. I naturally have really low blood pressure, so the fact that the drug increases it is actually beneficial for me. Previously I tried 3 different SSRIs and they all gave me emotional numbness, constant nausea, sleeping problems and lack of sex drive. I guess you just have to try antidepressants from different groups and find a good match for yourself.
Thank you for such a in depth video about bupropion after researching different metabolic processes and effects I would like to study pharmacology after I’m done with my studies in college any suggestions on how or where to study pharmacology for the future? Thank you
Why would a Dr prescribe this to a teenager if it raises testosterone? The only benefit to raising testosterone is to get an amazing workout in, at the gym! Other then that I don’t need a hyper sexual child on my hands. 😢
Best medication I've ever tried for panic attacks anxiety. I take it along side with 400to600 l theanine. Tried quite a bit of different ssri's . Sexual side effects are a big factor for me taking a medication . I will take this over all the others. If something ruins your sex life why would anyone want to take medication for that ?
I had to stop buproprion because I was experiencing tachycardia for prolonged periods. My rate would usually climb to 110 to 125 BPM at rest. Although my tachycardia correlated with the initiation of buproprion, it's difficult to attribute it as a causal relationship.
Unfortunately my experience wasn't good. I used bupropion and noticed an initial increase in motivation, but over time It completely altered my ability to express empathy. I also became extremely combative. I could see a shift in my personality but I thought this side effect would diminish over time so I continued while it only got worse. I stopped before I lost the ability to rationally acknowledge this wasn't my normal behavior. I've experienced everything from opiates to stimulant medication like phentermine that acts on the same neurotransmitters and nothing ever caused such an extreme out of control reaction like bupropion did for me. Not to say it won't work for others, this is just a cautionary tale of my experience, since it's supposed to be a mild antidepressant
Thank you for the warnings doc. Good video. I've been taking 150mg for about 6 months and overall it's been positive. I have a history of drug abuse but never abused Wellbutrin (just promised myself the day I started taking it that I would never abuse it). Small hallucinations plus restlessness here and there. But significantly less thoughts about suicide, more motivation, better appetite, more creative, quit smoking, more muscle (crazy!), and seemingly getting along with others better. I've made lifestyle changes as well, I don't want to glorify the drug.
Bupropion has a very loose binding as DTI. It is somewhere <20% in competition. Methylphenidate in comparison has >80%. It is actually so low, that it is thought to play no role in the pharmacokinetics. Responsible for the effect is more the nicotinic antagonism+NTI.
When Wellbutrin was still an American made, non-generic drug, it was a terrific CNS stimulant and mood enhancer. It helped me work more efficiently and also to look and feel better. When the patent ran out and the generic versions were the only thing available, it was like a prescription placebo. It literally did nothing except waste your co-pay every month. I was off of it for a decade, but I recently tried it again after my daughter was murdered by her fiance. The generic Wellbutrin (bupropion) isn't even made in the USA anymore. It's made in India! Out of desperation I took it anyway. Within 10 days I developed chronic migraines, anger episodes, unalive ideation, and severe joint pain. I felt like I had been poisoned. I would rather be depressed than have that garbage in my body.
Thank you for the indepth information. I found you searching for Welbutrin side effects. It has been added in addition to an SSRI I'm taking for MDD. Initially, I felt better, but I'm still struggling terribly. I think I'm having negative side effects of brain fog & imbalance. Two falls now and a fractured wrist. I was so hopeful of this medication. 🙁

20 years of taking it and I stopped taking it and lamicital cold turkey. I feel like I don’t need it anymore

Does bupropion has the same baseline as adhd stimulant?
Yes been on it for over 15 years😊

Ok. This is s bit of a oxymoron. If Welbutrin has higher risk of being addictive, why is it used to treat addiction???
Wellbutrin was like a sugar pill for me, not addictive at all.
I don't think buspirone is abusable
🇩🇪❤️🇷🇺
Snorting Wellbutrin couldn't possibly have any effect!

Wellbutrin caused me to be so forgetful that I couldn’t drive properly. Scary stuff.
There is a single “R” in bupropion. FYI.

i couldn't get past 10 days, was horrible, watch out for long lasting tinnitus too

Today is my first day taking wellbutrin
I was so adjetated i felt crazy arguing with strangers. Beware!
Dose it show in drug test ?
Wellbutrin was awful for me. Anxiety through the roof. I am glad it works for others.
Thanks for this information 🎥💯
Wellbutrin gave me the worst intrusive thoughts.

Thank you so much for this.
I am starting my treatment with Bupropion tomorrow and this was extremly informative.
Great work!

This video was not about side effects. It was about addiction

This is an ADHD drug for me… well, combined with Vyvanse. It keeps my dosage of Vyvanse low.
