I am a Texas conservative that 100% supports legalization of cannabis. The problem you will have in Florida like in Texas will be the politicians terrified of loosing a voter referendum . Then you add the Alcohol and pharmaceutical lobbyist and there you are .

I was actually shocked that Ohio made marijuana legal considering they are very conservative if Florida made weed legal imagine how much money the State could make just off the tourists.
The whole point and the people fighting it is the doctors and stuff they don’t want you to have marijuana. They make their money off you buying pills and stuff. It’s pretty much. The doctor is in people that deal with all of that stuff to hand you out pills, and stuff that are fighting it because they know that they’re gonna lose a lot of money.
They need to hurry up and make it legal because every other Republican state is getting it legal there, Ohio hard-core Republican state they allow you to grow it up there now on top of making it legal that’s putting Florida to shame right now

This is the third time Ashley Moody, the Florida AG, has challenged and asked the Florida Supreme Court to invalidate a marijuana legalization initiative. Back in 2021, the Court struck down the first initiative because it used the word "permits" which they said was misleading because the sponsor did not clarify that it would remain illegal under federal law. Then the Florida Supreme Court struck down the second initiative, also in 2021, because of the phrase "limited use" which they claimed was misleading because nothing in the language of the ballot measure actually limited cannabis use.
Now the AG and Florida Chamber of Commerce are claiming the word "allows" is misleading because they assert voters will think this also applies to federal law, which is exactly the same argument they used in early 2021, even though the sponsor included language in the ballot summary stating the initiative will only change Florida law but not immunize an individual from being prosecuted under federal law.
Additionally, the AG argues that the phrase "other licensed entities" is misleading because the sponsor did not clarify that only the Florida Legislature can pass legislation creating additional licenses. In other words, the AG's argument is that the current medical marijuana businesses would have a supposed monopoly since they are the only entities who have licenses to sell cannabis in the state, and the AG claims this is misleading because the voters would think that voting on the initiative would create greater competition in the market because additional licenses would automatically be created. This was the most absurd argument presented by the AG's lawyers because all the sponsor was doing was clarifying that there COULD BE additional licensed entities. For those who don't understand the significance of what is happening here… a sponsor is only allowed 75 words to succinctly express what a ballot initiative accomplishes. It is impossible to detail every little aspect of what is entailed in the implementation of a law, so all the AG is doing is looking for any omission as an excuse to claim the initiative is misleading.
Another bizarre argument was presented by the lawyer for the Florida Chamber of Commerce who claimed that the initiative ran afoul of the single subject rule because the initiative accomplishes two things instead of just one which was allowing the POSSESSION and PURCHASE of Cannabis. This was ridiculed by several of the Justices for the common sense argument that if something is legal to posses, then by conclusion there must be a source from which to obtain it. The lawyer for the sponsor said it best by pointing out an analogy that it wouldn't make sense to have a Second Amendment right to OWN a gun yet for it to be illegal to BUY a gun.
I watched the entire video of the oral arguments, which if anybody is interested can be found on the Florida Supreme Court's Youtube channel, and it is clear that if the Justices block the initiative from appearing on the ballot this time, then they are doing so for political reasons alone… with Justice Labarga, who dissented both previous opinions, being the sole exception. Because the arguments presented by the AG and the Florida Chamber of Commerce were convoluted nonsense AND the sponsor followed the suggestions recommended by the court in their prior opinions and oral arguments. There is no valid reason for the Court to block this initiative.
