  1. The most likely reason restrict themselves to an 8 hr window to begin with is to address underlying health concerns, which already puts them at higher risk for events like this.

  2. Great job ! I don’t know many ppl that regularly do IF and most of my friends workout.

I’m guessing that very few ppl even understood the question. I’m always interested in who was behind the study and their possible motives for the outcome they obtained

Can’t wait to hear more when it’s released!

  3. In 2002, the concept of control, or control groups in scientific experimentation was disingenuously removed from the scientific method in the curriculum.
I guess that means that from this point on, any one can pretend to be doing science simply by removing that particular aspect from their scientific method or method of experimentation, rendering virtually all or any scientific experiments excluding this aspect completely unlawful, irrelevant, and a literal threat to our society. It is a soft power attack on the wealth of our nation.
So long as they keep that most important aspect of the scientific method excluded, there will be no requirement for accurate science. Also, this is the method that was used to unlawfully prohibit the use of cannabis, which has been an herbal remedy for many things, including cancer, since the time it was conceived by the ancient Egyptian pharaohs, for their medical well being. The prohibition of "Marijuana" is not only unlawful in the aspect that the word is a Spanish one, and our laws are based on the English language, but even if they had properly titled the plant, it would be unconstitutional according to the 14th amendment to infringe on our right to well being.

  4. These people are full of it because fasting is working. It’s time tested. People have been fasting for thousands of years. It’s the only thing the major religions agree on. Christians, Muslims, Buddhist,Jews,Hindus etc. have been fasting since the beginning of time. Big pharma wants us sick so we have to by their drugs

  5. I think something often missed is that people fasting for weight loss tend to be less fit, heavier, with poorer diet. These folks are more likely to die of CVD than the baseline, anyway. It's kind of like a selection bias. I would hope a well trained researcher can control for this, but they have to know those metrics of their test population, which skews results in its own way.

  6. the billion + people who do this (during Ramadan) also smoke cancerous substances daily and using lit charcoal to light the cancerous substances on fire. … …

  7. Think of all the people who "fast" longer and ate in smaller windows during the Great Depression, or serve in the military, or who work outside, or who live in developing nations, then look at their mortality causes, excluding lifestyle (such as their jobs and death associated with their living conditions). Wonder what they'd find. Let's also include the homeless.

Actually, many people who lived through the Great Depression are usually thinner, and a high % of them live into their 90's and 100's more independently, with their own teeth, and in better cognitive health. Same with eastern european immigrants of that era. Let's do a study on these groups and compare.

  8. The vast majority of people who are fasting are likely those who have pre-existing health issues in the first place. Duh! Why cant they exercise common sense and stop doing pointless studies?!
    Who funded this study, McDonalds?😂

  9. I think logically if you eat the same number of calories in a day your body would be less well adapted to deal with those calories if they came all at once. When you eat slowly throughout the day you can immediately use up many of the calories you consume as you go about your daily activities. Many of the advantages of fasting may be simply due to reducing calories consumed, but for the period where you are consuming food your rate of calorie consumption would be higher and your body would struggle to deal with the load, particularly on your cardiovascular system.

  10. "Instead of using medicine, better fast today." -Plutarch. "There is nothing new, except what has been forgotten." -Marie Antoinette

Feels like someone is trying to remove from the shared conscousness a Remedy (18 hour fasting,) for many ailments that is FREE and can be performed by an individual. They want us to NEED THEM for our health ($$$.) But Health is our birthright. We need sage assistance perhaps. not Gatekeepers. Fix the mind, fix the body. Fix the body, fix the mind. As above, so below. As below, so above. ∞

  11. Great video, couple points I would like to add.

When looking at the absolute risks, we can use absolute risk increase (I will round numbers down for simplicity) so risk of CV death normal diet is 3% and for fasting is 7%. The absolute risk increase is 4% (7-3) which means for every 100 people that go from normal diet to fasting, 4 more will die than otherwise, since 3% died with normal dieting anyways.

Second, and perhaps this will be elucidated when the full paper comes out: I think there is serious concern about independent variable collection. Going off of two days of dieting over such a long time span raises a lot of concerns in my opinion. We have ZERO idea what their diet was like before, between, and after those two days. We know yo-yo dieting is especially bad and there may be a considerable proportion of the fasting group who go from extreme to extreme (fasting one week to make up for binge eating the previous week)

Also, lots of selection bias possibilities eg are these people fasting because they have concerning familial history?

Lots of notable differences in demographic data such as smoking – I assume the accounted for this in their statistical model

Lastly and most interesting is the lack of difference in all cause mortality. Perhaps fasting is bad for your heart but makes you a better driver lol.

  12. Im currently on day 39 of my 40 day water fast. This is my 4th time doing it. I had medical supervision during my previous fast and my doctor called my results miraculous and inspirational.

  13. I bet this is coming out/being pushed because of the recent uptick in recent heart issues due to ??? Also, did they include 2 factors, were they poked, were they ever confirmed to have contracted the "virus?" To be a completely fair analysis they would have to separate out these populations from those who were never exposed to either and then do the analysis. Those 2 factors alone hold too much weight in recent years to be ignored when analyzing any heart/cardiovascular study.

Also, what did the male v female and athletic v nonathletic numbers look like?

It sounds like a trick question from grad school where if I did not come to the conclusion that correlation does not equal causation I would have failed the exam.

  14. more than a million of intermittend fasting ppl in europe prove this study wrong… reality often differs to research 😀 setting and framing is ALL 😀

btw. your video clearly shows what framing und setting means – so most of those studies are completely nonsense and senseless…

  15. Humans colon is very long. That's why all the nutritions has to be absorbed from the food we take to us. Human beings are in the beginning and in the common thousands of years not use to it to get a meal every day. And this is easy to check for everybody if you don't eat any sugar or carbohydrates….you won't get hungry for at least three days or longer. Just drink water. I made it for 7 days before start feeling hungry.

  16. So after a person eats dinner and then a few hours later goes to bed. This means that by time you get your next meal is probably over 8 since you last ate. Isn't that like fasting anyway? Also, I've been doing this fasting for about a year and a half along with cutting down carbs and sugar intake that has reversed per-diabetic symptoms.

  17. They don’t want us to be healthy. All they do is invalidate stuff that helps but doesn’t put money in their pockets. Big pharma. Know this and know peace, that they don’t want us healthy. Obesity is a multi-billion $ industry. They would never sponsor hikes or free bikes or a bill to ban coke and sodas etc. no. They want is always at eat as you like buffet.

Thanks for this video, because I saw that headline and immediately thought this is trash. But still I hesitated because i do ADF.

I bet the people in that study eat all kinds of things when they do eat and don’t move LOL. Most of us who live a fasted lifestyle aren’t even able to watch much when we’re supposed to be feasting.

  18. If I have breakfast at 10am lunch at 1pm and tea/dinner at 6pm I don't really class that as fasting, that just a normal day for me. My mum does a 48 hr fast every week to help lose weight and stay healthy.

  19. I don't believe studies in general and medical ones in particular. Anything that helps people get healthier without help from the medical establishment is considered suspect by that establishment.

  20. We need a study on why you couldn't do a deep dive into that box at the end of your video, maybe with 20,000 other participants! 😅 But thanks for breaking down the research process, its mindset and inherent pitfalls with such clarity. I think much of the public is unaware of these things and just accepts published headlines by rote.
