  1. I got kicked off as a volunteer on a paid/volunteer department in vermont for saying on social Media I’m going to smoke a bong on my free time .. now I have more free time

  2. LAFD firefighter for 38 years who eventually needed a 4 disc spinal fusion my last year. I was prescribed Oxycontin (an Opiate!) which had horrendous effects on me, hallucinations, insomnia, restlessness, difficulty breathing ..etc. It wasn't until I tried Medical Marijuana that I finally got relief from surgery pain and eliminated all side effects. MM also helped my best friend (also FF) while he was receiving chemo from nausea and side effects of battling a terminal disease. The use of MM has been proven time and time again to benefit patients, so to prohibit its use off duty should have the same parameters (not impaired at work) as alcohol or opiates and absolutely be allowed.

  5. Canadian firefighter here, we have the same issue here, our suicides rates on our crews in Ontario actually dropped after weed became legal, yet they still keep that grey area. Most civilians don't know or understand what goes on behind closed doors and what we see daily.

  6. Steve is the president of the largest fire union in the state. I'll bet he is also the largest fire fighter in the state. Professional fire fighters are paid well with the best healthcare and pension benefits money can buy. Either don't smoke pot or find another job.
