Trio arrested after suspected counterfeit payroll checks, marijuana, meth and more confiscated in Louisiana

ALBANY, La. (BRPROUD) – Officers with the Albany Police Department responded to a local bank on Thursday, April 14.

A call came in about alleged fraudulent activity.

Following an investigation, the three people pictured below were arrested and taken to the Livingston Parish Detention Center.

Those three people are Billy Joe Massey, Ricky Lee, Jr. and Kaylin McKinney.

According to the Albany Police Department, “Suspected counterfeit payroll checks, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were all seized after a search was conducted”

The Albany Police Department is providing a rundown of what each suspect is charged with and their bond below:

Billy Joe Massey is facing these charges:

  • 14:72.2 MONETARY INTRUMENT ABUSE (1 COUNT)
  • 14:67.16 IDENTITY THEFT (7 COUNTS)
  • 14:72 FORGERY (18 COUNTS)
  • C.CR.P.ART 202 WARRANT/BENCH WARRANT (3 COUNTS)
  • 40:1023 POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA (1 COUNT)

APD says, “Baton Rouge Police immediately placed a detainer on Massey for similar crimes.”

Bond is set at $291,200 for Billy Joe Massey.

Ricky Lee Jr is charged with:

  • 14:72 MONETARY INSTRUMENT ABUSE (1 COUNT)
  • 40:967C POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE 2 DRUGS (1 COUNT)
  • 40:981.3 VIOL CDS LAW NEAR SCHOOL (1 COUNT)
  • 14:91.13 MINORS/USE CDS IN PRESENCE (1 COUNT)

Ricky Lee Jr. is being held on $60,500 bond.

Lastly, APD confirmed that Kaylin McKinney is charged with:

  • 40:981.3 VIOL CDS LAW NEAR SCHOOL (1 COUNT)
  • 14:91.13 MINORS/USE CDS IN PRESENCE (1 COUNT)
  • 40:966C(2)(A) POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA UNDER 14 GRAMS (1 COUNT)
  • 40:1023 POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA (1 COUNT)

McKinney’s bond is set at $36,500.

The investigation remains open and more information will be shared if it becomes available.
