Stop leads to marijuana arrest | News

Corinth police offers removed a quantity of marijuana from the streets as the result of a stop Thursday night.

The department charged Eric Lashun Gibson, 31, of Boyd Drive, Corinth, with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and the charge is enhanced by the presence of a firearm. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Bond was set at $10,000.

Capt. Ben Gann said officers made a traffic stop after a Dodge truck ran a stop sign at the intersection of White Street and MLK about 11 p.m. on Thursday. Officers encountered a strong odor believed to be marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a search followed.

Gann said officers seized 42 grams of marijuana, a loaded semiautomatic pistol and $1,308 cash.
