Ocala man accused of pushing woman, destroying home during argument over marijuana plants

A 42-year-old Ocala man was arrested after he was accused of forcefully pushing a woman and destroying the interior of a Marion County residence during an argument over marijuana plants.

On Thursday, November 17, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal made contact with the female victim at the MCSO Silver Springs Shores district office in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim advised that she had gotten into an argument with William Preston Mabrey, and he allegedly destroyed the victim’s residence after becoming “very angry,” according to the MCSO report.

The victim advised that Mabrey had been out with friends until approximately midnight, and the argument began shortly after he returned home. She told the corporal that she was trying to sleep in her bed when Mabrey repeatedly entered the bedroom to argue with her.

During the argument, the victim stated that she got out of bed and told Mabrey that he “needed to get all of his marijuana out of the house.” She then advised that she grabbed a garbage bag and began throwing marijuana plants inside the bag.

According to the victim, Mabrey began throwing items in the house, and he allegedly grabbed a cordless drill and “started punching holes in the dry wall” throughout the entire residence. She advised that she was crying and begged him to stop, and he allegedly responded by forcefully pushing her out of the way.

The victim told the corporal that Mabrey shattered the stove’s glass top, broke the cabinets and countertops, and he allegedly threw a bar stool across the home. The victim then advised that Mabrey entered the garage, grabbed a hammer, and destroyed the washing machine and hot water heater.

After Mabrey allegedly pushed the victim out of the way for a second time, he entered both bathrooms and destroyed the countertops and toilets, according to the victim.

The victim told the corporal that Mabrey does not usually drink alcohol, though she believed that he had consumed a few alcoholic beverages before returning home. She also advised that Mabrey does smoke marijuana.

In the MCSO report, the corporal noted that the victim did not appear to have any visible injuries.

The corporal responded to the residence where the incident had occurred and was unable to locate Mabrey. Inside the residence, the corporal observed all of the damages that were described by the victim, which included “major damage to the entire house,” according to the MCSO report.

A computer check of Mabrey revealed that he was previously arrested in Orange County, Florida for battery on a law enforcement officer in 2009.

On Tuesday, November 22, Mabrey was arrested, transported to Marion County Jail, and he was later released on $41,000 bond. He is facing felony charges for battery (second or subsequent offense), cultivation of marijuana, and possession of marijuana (over 20 grams), along with a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A court date has been scheduled on Tuesday, December 27 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
