Hey friends! Hopefully this video can help someone. If you're a new yorker or an experienced transplant like me, please feel free to share any constructive advice you may have for others looking to move to the city 💘 Good luck everyone!
I've lived in the city for 22 years. I encourage everyone moving here to consider whether it makes financial sense for them. Even if you afford the rent, do you consider paying 3 grands for a one bedroom in the outer boroughs a wise decision?
it's creepy the fact out generation can't buy a house anymore, this is ridiculous ! A whole generation lost moving and migrating between countries and big cities .
People will say about NYC that they have too many homeless on streets, hotels filled with illegals immegrants, drgs on streets and people poopin on streets but at the end its NYC.
The heart is deceiving, recommend you always do what’s right for a long term perspective and what would really benefit you and get you out of your comfort zone and help you learn, follow your dreams even if they seem impossible we humans are always moved by our dreams and goals, have an amazing day!🙂

Like your vlogs, i do sometimes wonder if we are quite a like in our thinking. As a virgo male late 30s whos been mostly single. I do enjoy my single life. Id like to be in a relationship at somepoint but dont know if I can handle taking orders from someone and as you say being hurt by the someone over and over, makes us mind numbing.

Thank you so much! My boyfriend and I want to move to NYC from California, where rents are the same fyi, and the amount of negative comments we get can get super discouraging but we know in our hearts we want to make the move! This perspective is just what I needed to hear ❤
Do I want to move to NY? Nope, as I have been here already for 31 years. Do I come to watch this and hear peoples thoughts on NY and hear Chelsea? Yup. Apartment search is the most stressful here. If you do find a Dimond you then hold on for dear life. Even the housing lottery now can be insane on rents in my opinion even though it's suppose to be "affordable". I have seen the rent be 40%-55% of the income requirement. Love the tip on volunteering to find friends in the community. I have found, finding a community ever since I moved out of my childhood neighborhood incredibly difficult. I will admit, I don't miss the subway now that I use a commuter train to get into the city. 🤣
Love your humor and honesty! Lived there 7 years when I feel like the city was more vibrant and less gentrified. More mom and pop’s, more Wild West—-ish. Now I feel like it’s just another big global city—-and I’ve lived on 4 continents, great cities, etc. I miss the soul of NYC🥲

I’m in PA not far from NYC. And we’re effected by what happens there with population growth because people leave the city and move here and just travel for work. So we’re having to keep up with what’s happening there, Jersey city etc. An it’s sad to watch the effects rolling down while so many are still trying to move their without intentions on actually even participating in the city outside of saying “ I moved to NY “. omg, PIANOS. I loved that place. I just turned 30, and I moved to NYC when I was 19, I left at 24 in 2018. We visited last year and I noticed the LES and East Village had a very different vibe which was a bit sad! but that always happens.
I adore your videos. And your videos gave me such a realistic perspective of what it really takes to live in nyc… not the perfect pinterest version either. I think I have indefinitely put my dreams of moving to nyc aside… and that's not a bad thing. I think realistically speaking… I know myself and what I like. And if I were to move to NYc tomorrow… I'd be living a life I would ultimately hate. maybe someday i'll live there… maybe not. but that's ok. I think your videos are the absolute best – because they are real. And you have no idea how much money you have probably saved people who would have otherwise up and moved thinking they were moving for some pinterest version

I lived in St. Louis, Missouri (and I absolutely love the city) but yes, NYC felt safer to me. But that again, it is just my experience 🙂
